A New Challenge...May Flowers!

Yeah, yeah, I know I left out the "April Showers" part, but for those of you who live in Vancouver, you understand, we're sick of rain and just ignore it in favour of admiring the flowers that bloom early here :)

I'm so excited about this month's challenge!  Since it revolves around "Flowers", I can pretty much do anything I want with the stencils I have...Whoo Hoo!!  (Alcohol Inks, Crackle Paste, F/X powders, technique on technique on technique!  Move over CAS, my brain just exploded!!)

But first, I have to congratulate Joy H. and Alison H. for winning last months challenge!  You guys all made the decision difficult for Lynell and I'm SO glad that I didn't have to choose!  But really, everyone who participated this month won, as Lynell decided to give EVERYONE a stencil!!  I'm so glad that so many people took up the challenge, as it's lovely to see everyone get a new image to play with!  Be sure to e-mail Lynell with your address, so she can send out your stencil right away!

And now to my card for this week's challenge...
Oh how I LOVE green and purple!  And as for how it's done...

Step 1.  Using a stencil brush and Tsukineko Memento Inks, Bamboo Green and Grape jelly, I stenciled the Violets LM 105 image onto white cardstock.
Step 2.  I washed my stencil and then replaced it over my stenciled image and pasted Translucent Embossing Paste over top.
Step 3.  After lifting off the stencil I poured Crystal Clear Glitter Ritz Glitter over the image and then waited for it to dry.

The background was embossed with Cuttlebug "Victoria" embossing folder and the border is made with an older Spellbinder Border Die.

The glitter sort of shows up, but here's a closer look

I love how easy it is to add dimension with just a simple layering of the colour in the centre of the Violets (these ARE Violets, right?  I always say that I don't know the different varieties of flowers as my husband never gives me any, hint hint Andrew!)

So now be sure to join this month's challenge by creating a card with the theme "April Showers bring May Flowers" and post it to your blog, or e-mail it to Lynell before 11:59 EST on April 30, and be sure to add your name to Mr Linky, because as you've seen from the previous month, we're really having a fun time inspiring each other with our awesome creations!!

And with that,
Stencil 'til your stiff,
Emboss 'til you explode,
And stop a minute to ignore the rain and smell the Roses...I mean Violets!
Jessie
